KANGNAM JEVISCO Develops a Paint That Keeps Cement from Cracking 2021.09.21

KANGNAM JEVISCO has announced that it has developed a paint that protects buildings

from cracks caused by carbonation of concrete jointly with DL E&C, a large construction company in Korea.

Concrete carbonation is a phenomenon in which the durability of a building is compromised
due to various external factors such as carbon dioxide and acid rain, which can cause
corrosion of the reinforcement bars in the building. This phenomenon can cause cracks in the exterior walls of the building,
which rapidly reduces the durability and strength of the concrete and shortens the life of the building.

GreenSol Durashield Primer, which has excellent resistance to carbonation that lowers concrete strength and registers
high elasticity, can not only respond to cracks, but also registers excellent waterproofness to block moisture penetration
into the exterior walls of buildings to dramatically improve durability.

In addition, exterior walls of buildings have generally been painted twice with water-based exterior paints.
GreenSol Durashield Primer delivers performance such as reduced carbonation of buildings, waterproofing,
and cracking resistance with just one application of water-based exterior paint followed by one coat of this paint.

An official from KANGNAM JEVISCO said, “Research on the improvement of the performance of paints for
exterior walls of buildings, including apartments, has not been actively conducted in the industry.

Through joint research between KANGNAM JEVISCO and DL E&C, we have developed GreenSol Durashield Primer,
an environmentally friendly water-based paint that can protect buildings from various external factors and increase their durability.”
Company added, “We plan to develop various functional paints that can improve architectural environment through continuous R&D.”
